PLATINO INSIGHTS / Logistics decisions

Freight is not the total cost of importing

Compare quotations with the work before departure and after arrival in view.

Start with scope, not the final line

One quote may cover port to port; another may include collection, clearance or delivery. Comparing totals alone can make an incomplete offer appear better. State the exact origin, destination, goods, volume, weight, date and Incoterm. Ask each provider to identify inclusions and your responsibilities.

Separate confirmed costs from conditions

Organize the budget by origin, main carriage, destination, customs handling, insurance and delivery. Identify confirmed charges and those dependent on final weight, inspection, storage or shipment conditions. An allowance is not a final rate; its basis and review trigger should be explained.

Time has consequences, too

Price matters alongside the date you need the goods. An extra connection, missing document or unplanned receiving window can change the decision. Review free time, document deadlines, delivery windows and what happens if cargo arrives before your business is ready.

Ask for a proposal you can explain

A useful comparison can be shared with purchasing and finance without reconstructing scattered messages. Send the same cargo worksheet to each provider and record exclusions, validity and currency. Platino can review logistics scope and questions to resolve before committing the shipment.

Apply it to your operation

  • Same origin, destination and Incoterm?
  • Same packages, dimensions and weight?
  • Origin and destination charges identified?
  • Insurance, clearance and delivery defined?
  • Validity, free time and outstanding conditions clear?

Introductory content. Each operation requires review of its own documents and circumstances.
